State-wide SUB’s in Schools Competition – Update 2

The Year 10 Mechatronics Sub’s In Schools team is continuing to work towards the State Finals. On Wednesday 5 August we held a sausage sizzle to raise funds for the special camera and competition registration. It was a resounding success, and everyone had a blast, working together to provide tasty hot dogs to the students and staff of Kennedy.

Term 3 Awards Assemblies

We recently celebrated the academic achievement and success of our students at two College Assemblies. Students were acknowledged for their hard work and commitment to the College during a very challenging and different Semester One than what we are used too.

2020 Lego Challenge in the Research and Study Centre

The second year of the Research and Study Centre's Lego Challenge has been just as exciting as the first with 42 students signing up to play. The challenge has run over five weeks with the final being this Friday. The first three weeks saw the heats with students working in pairs competing at Friday lunchtimes and using the Legos provided.

Careers Hub at Kennedy Baptist College

The Careers Hub at Kennedy Baptist College is state of the art and modelled on Curtin University’s Careers and Employment Centre. The Hub provides information and resources for students thinking about entry requirements for tertiary studies, graduate opportunities, scholarships, apprenticeships, work placements, VET studies, alternate entry options for students not pursuing a university pathway, UCAT testing and TISC information.

State-wide SUB’s in Schools Competition – Update 1

Last week our SUB’s in Schools team had a visit from one of our industry partners. Mr Wesley Van Barneveld, an ROV Engineer from Intervention Engineering came and gave the students advice on the construction of our ROV. Mr Van Barneveld helped the students improve their design of the ROV and the design of the propeller guards, focusing on reducing the amount of turbulence due to the presence of the propeller guard.

Tips for Studying – From the Research and Study Centre

In the RASC we are very aware of the way that the uncertainty of the COVD-19 virus has affected all of us in different ways, including the way we get tasks done or study.

Here are three tips for study (whether for exams, assignments or tests) if you or your children are feeling uncertain:

Have a planner – clearly mark out the times you are intending to study and include breaks.

The Year 10 Mechatronics class are competing in the state-wide SUB’s in Schools Competition, due to take place at the end of the year.
