From the Research and Study Centre – End of Term 3

We are currently in the midst of Mystery Madness in the Research and Study Centre - we have had several Mystery competitions, a “who dunnit”, and “Maths Murder” investigations. The crime Escape Room activity booked out in minutes and a mystery fingerprint craft activity was a hit! There is one more “guess what this is” weekly photo and a detective movie next week to finish the term.

Recreation in the Research and Study Centre

The Research and Study Centre is a hub of activity, study and reading.

Last week we were honoured to be officially awarded the Western Australian School Library of the Year trophy by the West Australian School Library Association. This is a true indication of the calibre of the team we have here in the Research and Study Centre – it is a privilege and pleasure to work with them each day.

State-wide SUB’s in Schools Competition – Update 

The Year 10 Mechatronics Sub’s In Schools team is continuing to work towards the State Finals. On Wednesday 5 August we held a sausage sizzle to raise funds for the special camera and competition registration. It was a resounding success, and everyone had a blast, working together to provide tasty hot dogs to the students and staff of Kennedy.

Term 3 Awards Assemblies

We recently celebrated the academic achievement and success of our students at two College Assemblies. Students were acknowledged for their hard work and commitment to the College during a very challenging and different Semester One than what we are used too.

2020 Lego Challenge in the Research and Study Centre

The second year of the Research and Study Centre's Lego Challenge has been just as exciting as the first with 42 students signing up to play. The challenge has run over five weeks with the final being this Friday. The first three weeks saw the heats with students working in pairs competing at Friday lunchtimes and using the Legos provided.

Careers Hub at Kennedy Baptist College

The Careers Hub at Kennedy Baptist College is state of the art and modelled on Curtin University’s Careers and Employment Centre. The Hub provides information and resources for students thinking about entry requirements for tertiary studies, graduate opportunities, scholarships, apprenticeships, work placements, VET studies, alternate entry options for students not pursuing a university pathway, UCAT testing and TISC information.
