Year 11 ATAR Art Incursion with artist Tanya Montgomery

Award-winning artist Tanya Montgomery (or “Monty” as she prefers to be called) worked with some of our Year 11 Art students during a full-day incursion. Monty is a landscape painter (previously painting in the Pilbara region), an Art educator, and also facilitates community engagement and public artworks.

‘Fading Numbers’ by Former Kennedy Student

Former Kennedy Student, Aron Attiwell’s Fading Numbers short film brings Holocaust stories to the surface.

Fading Numbers is a short film portraying stories of survival from one of history’s darkest chapters, this film is designed to educate more than entertain.

Student Spotlight: Jordan

Student: Jordan Pescud
Year: Year 10
Graduation Year: 2023 

Jordan is a Year 10 student who loves art fashion and being creative. She is quiet, diligent and really enjoys roller skating and crochet.  

Jordan currently studies Visual Art, Fine Art, Graphic Art and French and she really enjoys her History studies.

Kennedy Student Art Displayed at Goolugatup Heathcote

Two of our former 2020 Year 12 students, Zevanya Sumodisatro and Lynn Lim, had the opportunity to display their artwork at the recent Southern Perspectives 2021 Exhibition at Goolugatup Heathcote. ​The Exhibition was to celebrate the talent and ideas of some of the State’s most promising young artists! The Exhibition is a thought-provoking artwork from Year 12 Visual Arts students.

High School Musical Production

We did it! After two years of planning, auditioning, rehearsing, social distancing and then, more rehearsing! Last week, Kennedy (finally) presented its production of High School Musical on Stage!

The audiences were very supportive: laughing at every joke, cheering for every backflip and definitely shedding a tear or two.

2020 Kennedy Photography Competition Winners

The Kennedy Photography Competition was a contest open to Years 7 – 12 students to enter their best photos, whether they used a DSLR camera, tablet or their phone. The competition was held in Term 2, with the winning photos being judged at the beginning of Term 3. The competition had three categories: 'Black and White', 'Close-Up' and 'My Neighbourhood', which resulted in a diverse range of photos being entered.

Freo Artist Works With Kennedy Students

More than 80 aspiring young art students worked together with award-winning Fremantle illustrator, Ross Potter, to celebrate the endangered Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo – a species that is endemic to the South West of Western Australia. The collaborative art project was produced here at the College, which is nestled within a native bush setting, adjacent to North Lake, part of the Beeliar Wetland, a significant food source and roosting area for the cockatoo on the Swan coastal plain.

2019 Arts Cup

On 8 May 2019, the College was treated with amazing performances from talented singers, musicians and dancers. 15 Students took to the stage to compete in this year’s Arts Cup event and they all did exceptionally well.

 

Congratulations to Megan Petrus-Kasim who gained 1st place with her beautiful voice.

Music is Flourishing at Kennedy Baptist College

Annual Music Night
On Tuesday 26 June, our students shared the stage with Internationally acclaimed concert pianist Dr Jovanni–Rey de Pedro and brought us a brilliant showcase of musical performance.

What a variety of musical talent we have here at Kennedy Baptist College – from percussion groups to rock bands to solo pianists, and the list goes on.
